Sometimes life just gets busy and things like blogs fall to the back burner. My 11th grader has been prepping/stressing for her US university entrance exam which she takes Saturday, I've been planning our Easter holiday to Thailand, arranging for a house sitter, trying to keep our daily seminary class somewhat interesting AND trying to do my assignment on the PTO. All the while, my husband is essentially absent. I am not complaining, we are hugely blessed, but like I said, some times life gets busy and I had to ignore the blog for a couple of weeks.

For those of you familiar with the IB, my 11th grader is writing her extended essay on medical experiments performed at the Dachau Concentration Camp. At the recommendation of the Jewish Museum, I went downtown to the university library to look for source material and had myself a lovely little walk. By the way, if you want to check books out of the library, you will need your passport to get a library card.

Moving on from the library, I stopped by the church next door. Ludwigskirche, built in 1829 is young by comparison to other churches in Bavaria, but is worth a look for it's beautiful blue ceiling fresco.

After a short visit to the church I met a friend for lunch at Cafe Luitpold. The lunch menu is a bit pricey, but I will say my tomato-paprika cream soup with shrimp was excellent. Every dish that passed by our table looked great and the bakery cases were filled with divine looking pastries, cakes and chocolates. Indoor and outdoor seating available, reservations not necessary.

Lovely pictures Brooke! I went to Cafe Luitpold last week, was v. good and the crowd that eat there were like something out of an Agatha Christie novel! :D As for that statue, if he's Bavarian, he is probably having both! :D

That must be such an enlightening subject for you 11th grader to be researching. What a way to find out just how awful people can really be to each other. Your photos are lovely and this library would be quite an interesting place to visit.

What a gorgeous place! Your pictures are really nice as well. It must be inspiring to have a library like that, even I felt like studying...
