Munich Monday--Victoria House
I never need an excuse to try out a new restaurant in Munich, so when someone told me they'd had a good "American" breakfast at the Victoria house I gathered some girlfriends to give it a try. Located behind the Victualian Market the Victoria House is decorated like an old English Manor house. The menu offers a gazillion tea choices, but since I am not a tea drinker, I really can't comment on the quality or selection--I wanted pancakes and so at 12:30pm, that's exactly what I ordered, that's one nice thing about Victoria House, you can order breakfast all day long!
The DetailsAddress: Frauenstr. 14 089 255 46 947
Hours: 9:30am-10:30 pm
Transportation: Take any train to Marianplatz, it's a 5-6 minute walk through the Victualian Market.
Tip: Reservations recommended
Between the 6 of us we ordered a variety of things from the menu--The club is huge, definitely shareable! Eggs Benedict are not my thing, but my vegetarian girlfriend said these were very good.
My small serving of pancakes came with that beautiful cup of fresh fruit, reason enough to order the dish, but if you are looking for a real American style pancake, this isn't it. The taste was good enough, but thicker and dryer than what American's are accustomed to. They are a bit closer to a crumpet.
Between the 6 of us, we were pleased with our selections, but I would only go back for the club sandwich and fruit. The service was good and they tolerated our loudness, so I would give the Victorian House a try if you are in the mood for food that resembles a bit of home.
Looks like a fun place to meet with friends.
ReplyDeleteThe pancakes look a bit strange but I would give it a try anyway. Oh great, now I'm hungry... ;)
